Week 16 Reflection

The culture in which both these writers were living was one of extreme racism and prejudice.  The discrimination was allowed and condoned in America because racism had been going on for so long in America, people really believed there was something "wrong" with other races.  This was condoned because everyone was so used to it and didn't want to change their way of thinking after so many years.
